Radio3 Scienza, a program of Rai Radio 3, interviewed Fabio Masci in its episode of September 18, 2023. On September 21, 2023, the association LAV (Lega Anti Vivisezione) published its own interview with him. In both interviews he spoke on bird strike, the collision of birds with aircraft.

He is a retired lieutenant colonel of the Italian Air Force and a fighter pilot. Over his career he logged about 2,500 flight hours on fast jets, and from 1998 he ran flight safety at a fighter wing.

Masci leads THE EDGE COMPANY, an Italian deep-tech company he founded in 2017 with a small group of partners. Our method began in flight safety, at that fighter wing. Today we entrust it to cameras and artificial intelligence, and our biologists validate samples of the detections.

The RaiPlay Sound page for the Radio3 Scienza episode is no longer online, so we list an archived copy on our coverage page.
